Fed: Australian police injured in East Timor

Seven Australian police officers were injured in East Timor last night .. when gangs
of rock throwers attacked a patrol on the outskirts of Dili.

Australian Federal Police say the Australians were forced to fire shots to disperse
a crowd of about 200 youths after being pelted with rocks.

The officers received minor injuries like grazed elbows and legs .. and a number of
police vehicles were badly damaged.

But .. none of the injuries were bad enough to warrant evacuation back to Australia.

The AFP says the incident happened on the airport road.
