Qld: New minister clings to seat

Newly appointed Queensland government minister LIDDY CLARK is clinging to the seat
of Clayfield as counting continues after Saturday's state election.

Ms CLARK has been appointed Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy
by Premier PETER BEATTIE.

This is despite the former television show host's slim 214-vote lead over the Liberal's
SALLY HANNAH in the inner-northern Brisbane seat.

About 80 per cent of the votes have been counted on a two-party preferred basis.

The results from the three other undecided seats appear more clear-cut.

Charters Towers looks like falling to the National Party, with SHANE KNUTH more than
450 votes ahead of the ALP's CHRISTINE SCOTT.

The ALP is set to claim both Indooroopilly in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast seat of Kawana.

The ALP is expected to win 63 seats in the 89-seat Queensland parliament, with the
Nationals on 15, Liberals five, independents five and One Nation one.
